Talk to Your AI Agent Team by Voice, Hands-Free, While You Drive

Crewly's Drive mode is a hands-free voice channel to your agents. Hear what is going on, give several instructions at once, and get a written recap when you park. Plus what it needs and where it stops.

Drive mode lets you talk to your Crewly agent team on your phone, hands-free. You hear what is going on, tell the agents what to do, and keep talking while they work. When you say "end", each agent you spoke with leaves a written recap for later. It is for any time you cannot look at a screen, and a commute is the obvious one.

The problem: you are away from the screen, and the work is not

Agents keep working while you drive, walk the dog or cook. Questions pile up and nothing tells you whether the team is stuck or fine. Typing a message on a phone at a red light is not an answer, and it is not safe either.

A voice channel fixes the part that is about talking: asking and deciding. The work itself stays with the agents.

How it works

Open the Crewly Portal on your phone, go to Talk, and tap Drive mode. One tap starts a full-screen voice session with large Pause and End buttons and a minutes counter, so you can see what a session is using.

  1. It greets you, then asks what you want. Check in with all your teams, or ask about something specific. If you pick the check-in, you get a short update of about 20 seconds: one phrase per team, with whatever needs you first. Then you can go through it one item at a time.
  2. Status questions are answered at once. Ask "how is the marketing team doing?" and the voice answers from the latest status of your teams, agents and tickets, without waiting for an agent. If your machine is offline or the status is more than 15 minutes old, you are told how old it is.
  3. Instructions go to the right agent. Say "tell Ella to move the post to Monday" and the message goes to Ella. Give several instructions in a row and each goes to its own agent while you keep talking.
  4. Agents answer in two steps. A quick acknowledgement comes within seconds, so you know it landed. The result follows later: the conclusion first, in three short sentences or fewer, with two or three options if you need to choose. No links, tables or code are read out loud.
  5. You can interrupt at any moment. Change your mind or cut in mid-sentence. Background noise is tuned so a passing sound does not stop the voice.
  6. Risky actions need your spoken OK. Sending an email, publishing, deploying or spending money is not done on a half-heard sentence. You are asked to confirm first.
  7. Agents you name are woken up. If an agent you mention is stopped, Crewly starts it and keeps it ready for about 20 minutes, so your next message is not waiting on a cold start.
  8. When you say "end", you get a recap. Each agent you talked with writes one written summary where that conversation lives, for example in its direct message with you. You read it once you have parked.

What it looked like in one real session

This is from a Drive session by our founder, Steve, on October 9. The questions came by voice; the agents' short answers were read back to him.

He asked what the team planned to post today. The answer was two sentences: nothing today, one post tomorrow morning, and a longer piece waiting for his review. He asked about a link that someone said was erroring in a public list. He got a one-sentence "checking, a few minutes", and then the result: the submission had passed its automatic checks and was waiting on a maintainer.

Then he pushed back. The agent had said installing Crewly was a weak spot. Steve said he did not think it was complicated. The agent looked at the current download page, said it had used older information, and corrected itself in one sentence.

All of that happened while the team kept working. At the end he got one written recap with what was decided and four questions waiting for his answer, ready to read after he parked.

Safety, in plain words

Drive mode is designed so that you never need to look at the phone or touch it. Start the session before you set off, keep the phone in a mount, and let the voice do the work. Do not read the screen or type while driving, and follow your local laws about phones in a vehicle. If something needs your eyes, leave it for the recap and read it when you have parked.

What you need, and what it does not do

  • A Crewly Cloud account on a paid plan, signed in on your phone. Drive mode is available on paid Crewly Cloud plans, in preview.
  • Crewly 1.20.279 or later on the machine that runs your agents. If it is too old, Drive mode asks you to update.
  • Microphone access for the page in your phone's browser, and a connection that holds. If it drops, Drive mode reconnects.

It is a voice conversation, not a way to do the work by voice. Long jobs come back later, and anything that needs you to read or compare something waits for the recap. Drive mode reads what is waiting for you only when you ask for it.
